Tacoma sightseeing - Sept 3

Slept in today but still managed to read the news at the local Starbucks!  Pam is happy...therefore, Norm is happy!  Funny how that works.

Savory, Sweet, Spicey...Pam felt this sign was all about her! Ha Ha

LeMay "America's Car Museum", 2702 East D St, Tacoma, WA.  We paid $5 for parking and $14ea as senior entrance fees.  4 floors of autos and the best part is it looked like a huge modern aircraft hanger.

We had our photo taken as we took our demo drive:

An old Fiat - love it!

This car is adorable:

They offered race car driving simulation:

Below, the exact make (1955 Oldsmobile "Super 88") and color of the Trump family's new car in 1955. About 60 years later and it's become an antique. Oh, cruel world!

Pam's all-time favorite car!

Pam found a T-shirt in the gift shop for Norm.  He's a hard-sell, but he liked this one in XXXL.

We shared a burger and fries for lunch in the cafe:

Next we drove to Point Defiance Park - one of the region's premier outdoor destinations.  More than 765 acres of lush forest and gardens and we drove around the outer loop's 5-mile drive stopping to take a few photos at viewpoints overlooking Puget Sound.

Our last stop in the Park was Fort Nisqually.  It was built in 1833 and the first Euro-American settlement on Puget Sound.  We arrived at the visitor center a couple of minutes before closing and just had time to take a couple of photos and buy a T-shirt for Norm.

Loved this life-size beaver...

We decided to look for a new brewpub in the area and found Airways Brewing Company in Google.  The address we were looking for stated that it was in the downtown historic district but when we found the address, it was in a warehouse area.  We couldn't figure it out until the server told us that they had two locations and the one we were looking for was a couple of miles away.  We didn't stay at this one which is the actual brewery and instead headed for the next one.

This was the actual brewery in the warehouse district:

And...this was the Tap Room and Bistro in the historic district part of Kent, near our Best Western.

This brewery had clever labels and posters - all with an airline gimick:

We shared a pizza for dinner - it was black forest ham, arugula, cheese & fuji apples....and so yummy!

We were only a couple of miles from our hotel and after a day of sightseeing...we were ready to crash.
Tomorrow we head north to Duc Sol Hot Springs in the Olympic National Forest  and finally overnight at Ocean Shores on the Washington coast.
