Today we spent the day at The Hofburg Palace.
Today we spent the day at The Hofburg Palace.
Our first stop was The Hofburg
Treasury with a stunning collection of royal jewels, crowns, gowns and
robes. As Rick Steves' states "it has more precious gems than you can
shake a scepter at".
Our next stop was to The New Palace which houses three separate collections. The Arms and Armory Collection displayed the armor that the horses wore during the jousting matches. Those horses must have been huge to be able to wear the armor plus carry the men in their armor too. One sword to the horse's leg and they both would be down so it surely wasn't fool proof.
Norm wanted a closer look:
We also visited the Ancient Musical Collection. Hard to believe way back in those days that they were able to develop so many instruments that are still used today.
Our favorite collection was in the Ephesus Museum.
The Hofburg Palace is a stunning piece of architecture and in itself was worth the price of admission.
