Wednesday - May 6:
We left the hotel today at a leisurely 11am pace and drove from Spain into France. At our gas station fill-up, Pam entered the station and said "Hola". It took her 6 days to remember to say Hola yet when leaving she always reverted to saying thank you Now she's finally saying Spanish yet we're now in France! Yes, she is blonde!
Our one stop of the day was to Lourdes. We were surprised to see that even Lourdes has a McDonalds.
The streets around the cathedral were like in a carnival atmosphere - so many tourist shops hawking the same things. How do they all stay in business? We did buy a placemat though so a few million of those might pay the rent. It was crowded with tourists and this is the shoulder season. We'd hate to see it during the 'busy' months!
Even Lourdes has a tourist tram:
Pam prayed to have her cold cured and I prayed to have our gas tank miraculously filled throughout our trip...we'll see if our prayers are answered.
We arrived at the end of the mass healing ceremony and couldn't believe all the people leaving the ceremony. We hope they all find their cure.
As we neared our hotel tonight in Carcassonne, Pam announced that she feels so much better this afternoon. Was it our visit to Lourdes???? Or the second visit to the pharmacist this morning for a new round of drugs... Only Billy Swaggart can tell us.
We've been trying to cover our religious bases lately - we've visited Salt Lake City, The Crystal Cathedral, and now Lourdes. We should be in good shape when we meet our maker...whichever one that turns out to be.
