2015 Southwest Trip - Day 1 - Reno

With our European Road Trip now encased in the amber of fond memories, we are off on our final trip of 2015 to that portion of the American Southwest we haven't previously toured. We will pass through 6 states outside California;  Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona. We will go as far north as Green River, Wyoming, as far east as Denver and as far south as Phoenix, about 3,000 miles from October 5th throuh October 28th. We have burned incense and paid to have a virgin sacrificed in an active volcano in order to appease the Weather Gods, in particular that triumvirate which includes  the "God of Unseasonable Snow", the "God of Unexpectedly Fierce Snow" and the "God of Ha-Ha, Now You Need to Put Chains On Your Car". We have no chains (only those golden chains which bind the two of us together.) Let's hear it now, "Awwwwwww".

Left the house at 12:17pm...always seems to be more to do at the last minute.

A propitious start to the trip, blue skies, puffy clouds, 75 degrees. Except for large big rigs, hardly any traffic all the way to Reno.

137 miles from home to Atlantis.

Met Pam's Mom at the Atlantis Casino and Hotel Resort, had lunch and visited for a few hours and just kicked back watching all the gamblers at the machines.  Gave a fresh flower wrist corsage to Sue, the Keno manager and friend of Mom's, for arranging our comped room. Pam put little keno balls on it. She is going to wear it at the big annual Keno event this week.

Our room is on the 23rd floor.  Beautiful view at night.
